No news is good.

Haven't had a whole lot say here lately, mostly because it was just getting too damned depressing reading the headlines. So I went looking for good news...

Marines Hit Hideout in Iraqi Desert as Villagers Seek Refuge
BAGHDAD, Iraq, May 13 - Fighting raged anew in the western Iraqi desert today as American fighter jets flattened what the military said was an insurgent hideout, and hundreds of Iraqi families streamed out of the area to seek refuge in other villages, according to aid officials.

Nope, not there.

Protests across Muslim world over Koran report
KABUL, Afghanistan (Reuters) - Angry protests raged across the Muslim world from Indonesia to Gaza on Friday over a report that U.S. interrogators at Guantanamo Bay had desecrated the Koran, with calls for retaliation and a rising death toll.

Oops…not there either.

One scenario: Chief Justice Scalia?
Of all the possible candidates mentioned for a US Supreme Court post, none seems more primed for all-out warfare in the Senate confirmation process than Antonin Scalia.
Justice Scalia, who has served on the high court since 1986, is frequently mentioned as a potential nominee for the top post should Chief Justice William Rehnquist announce his retirement.

Oh sweet Jesus, where’s the bourbon?

But in the midst of all the dreck, there is one bright spot:

Police: Topless sunbathing OK at N.C. beach
TOPSAIL BEACH, N.C. - Female sun worshipers don't have to worry about tan lines on North Carolina's Topsail Beach.
Police Chief Rickey Smith says there's no law banning topless sunbathing at Topsail.
However, Smith says if his beach patrol officers see a bare-breasted woman, they'll suggest she move to the southern end of the island where there are fewer tourists.

And here I thought that in all my years of vacationing on the southern end of Topsail the men in our party were using those binoculars to watch the dolphins.
