You are a fluke of the universe; you have no right to be here, and whether you can hear it or not, the universe is laughing behind your back. Tony Hendra, 1972

It worked so well last year...
The year's at the spring And day's at the morn; Morning's at seven; The hillside's dew-pearled; The lark's on the wing; The snail's on the thorn: God's in His heaven— All's right with the world!
Robert Browning may have employed a gardener, but he obviously was not a gardener himself. I married a gardener, and he is never happy to see a snail on the thorn or anywhere else.
My resident gardener has no objection to larks on the wing, however; not that we ever get larks. The most exciting birds we get are Anna's hummingbirds; the loudest are scrub jays.
