The last Tiger to pitch a no-hitter was Jack Morris in 1984. Y'all remember what happened in 1984, don't you?
Bless you, boys.
Justin Verlander pitched the first no-hitter in Comerica Park history, mixing 99 mph heat with crazy curveballs to lead the Detroit Tigers over the Milwaukee Brewers 4-0 on Tuesday night.

As I've said elsewhere, Tigers v. Mets for the brass ring.

I kept getting confused when I heard "Tiger" and "no-hitter" in the same sentence on TV. Since when is "no-hitter" a golf term? What worries me is that people are treating this like an utter anomaly, like the birth of a pure red heifer or something. Do you know what the statistics are for no-hitters per team per season? I knew they were rare, but not unheard-of.
The 24/7 battle for ratings (and something to fill dead air) will continue to make those people pound every story into the ground, searching desperately for any angle. We will not be allowed to just enjoy some good news set against usefully informative context.
Meanwhile, dee, my Mets are tanking? What's up with that?

1984 - George Orwell was wrong? Did something else happen then? Help me out here, dee.
